God’s Blessings

receiving God's blessings

E.P 3 – Do you consistently give glory to God for His countless blessings in your life? Join me in today’s episode as we delve into the topic of God’s blessings. So, grab a cup of coffee because we’re about to get down to practical matters.

Has God Blessed you?

Before we dive into today’s topic, take a few minutes to ponder this: Can you list or write down some of the blessings you’ve received from God in your life?

Now that you’ve listed them, ask yourself these questions: How many of those blessings you mentioned include the little things like the ability to walk, eat, smile, talk, think, peace of heart, and the joy of the Lord?

You know, as humans, we often overlook the small things. We express lesser gratitude to the Lord for these “little blessings” as much as we do for the “big blessings” like getting a promotion, landing your dream job, finding your life partner, winning that scholarship you worked so hard for, or posting that first video after putting in lots of effort?

Little and Big Blessings

If you’re already feeling convicted, guess what? You’re not alone. This is something we often struggle with. We always get caught up in thanking God for the “big blessings” while overlooking the “little blessings” in our lives.

I use the terms “little and big blessings” because that’s how we often categorize them. However, the truth is, EVERYTHING we have as Christians is a blessing from God, whether big or small.

God convicted me...

I was strongly convicted on this matter last night.  You see, at the start of this course, I mentioned that this would be a journey we embark on together. You and I, side by side because these are struggles we all go through. As God guides me in writing each episode, I also want to be open and honest with you, but also encourage you in your own spiritual journey. I want you to know that every episode is born from convictions I live out daily in my own life. And believe me, it’s a never-ending journey, but one filled with purpose.

So, allow me to share a recent story with you. Just last night, I posted my very first YouTube trailer video. Now, here’s the twist—I had absolutely no clue about video editing or digital content creation. So, I spent countless nights diving into the basics of video editing. When I finally put up that first two-minute video, I was over the moon with excitement. I even celebrated with some friends. Sure, I know there’s a lot more work ahead, but that moment felt like a weight off my shoulders.

He wants all the Glory

That evening, during my time of devotion with the Lord, I did my usual routine of reflecting on my day—I like to call it my “Daily Self Examination”.

Here’s a side note: If you’re really serious about identifying areas in your life where you can grow, I strongly encourage everyone to take some time at the end of their day for a deep self-reflection and character examination. You might be surprised at how God will start revealing both your weaknesses and strengths. I can’t stress enough how this practice can truly transform your spiritual growth.

Now, back to my story. As I was in the midst of my reflection, I suddenly felt a heavy burden on my heart and God reminded me of these scriptures:

Isaiah 42:8 – “I am the Lord: this is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols”

Exodus 34:14 – “You must worship no other god, for the Lord, whose very name is jealous, is a God is jealous about His relationship with you”

I was baffled and confused for a while because it felt so disconnected. But as I continued to meditate, the Holy Spirit began to rebuke me regarding my celebration that night, which had been centered around my own efforts. I failed to acknowledge that regardless of my strength and effort, it was all about Jesus. How often have you fallen into the trap of self-glory whether consciously or unconsciously?

God owns EVERYTHING

Many of us might read that story and think, “Well, there’s nothing wrong with celebrating our hard work.” I completely agree with you. In fact, in my course on physical success, I emphasize the importance of celebrating our life journey.

You see, God always wants us to give Him the glory. And I don’t mean just saying the words “Thank you, Lord” because it’s expected or to show others that we’re Christians. It goes deeper than that. He desires us to have a profound reverence and understanding of His blessings in our hearts, knowing that everything we have comes from Him. Therefore, we should acknowledge Him in all that we do, whether it’s something big or small.

David grasped this concept when he wrote in Psalm 24:1-2 (NLT): “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him. For He laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.”

Reflection

In the midst of our celebrations, I encourage you to reflect over these few questions:

  • Who gave you the strength and ability to carry out that task? – Isaiah 41:29
  • Did you remember to give God glory for both the little and big things He did? – Job 1:21
  • If the outcome had been different, would you still celebrate and give God glory? 1st Thessalonians 5:8

In conclusion, let’s always maintain an attitude of thanksgiving to God because everything we have comes from Him and Him alone. For without Him, we can do nothing – John 15:5.
